SUNY Cortland junior sprinter Melique Garcia (Watervliet) has been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 21.

Garcia finished first out of 34 sprinters in the 100-meter dash (11.43) and placed second of 40 in the 200-meter dash (23.03) at the Cortland Classic. His prelim time of 10.73 seconds in the 100 meters is an ECAC qualifier and ranks 12th nationally in Div. III.

Garcia also anchored Cortland's second-place 4x100-meter relay team that qualified for ECACs with a time of 43.50 seconds.

Cortland will compete at the Cornell Big Red Invitational on Sunday, April 28.
