DALLAS, PA. – Junior
Leah Hathaway (Schuylerville) won at sixth singles and combined with sophomore
Jaclyn Cartwright (Deer Park) for a victory at second doubles in Cortland's 7-2 dual-match loss to Misericordia University.
Hathaway won 6-4, 6-3 at sixth singles, while the Hathaway/Cartwright combination won 8-4 at second doubles.
Cortland also took two singles matches to second-set tiebreakers, but lost both of those tiebreakers that would have forced either third sets or match-deciding super-tiebreakers. At third singles, freshman
Dilara Kumbul (Greece/Greece Athena) lost the first set, 6-1, and the second set, 7-6, after a 7-1 tiebreaker loss. At fifth singles, Cartwright also lost the first set, 6-1, and went to a tiebreaker in the second set before losing that, 7-4, to drop the set, 7-6.
Cortland completes its spring schedule on Saturday at the New Paltz Tournament.
