NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Cortland women's tennis team completed its spring schedule at the New Paltz Spring Tournament. The tournament featured five schools – Cortland, New Paltz, Mt. St. Mary, Plattsburgh and Hunter – competing in a doubles-only tournament format.
 
Cortland had four doubles teams entered among the tournament's three flights. Freshman Shannon Grodotzke (Rocky Point) and freshman Dilara Kumbul (Greece/Greece Athena) were entered as Cortland's #1 doubles in the first flight. Sophomore Jaclyn Cartwright (Deer Park) and junior Leah Hathaway (Schuylerville) were Cortland's #2 doubles team entered in the second flight. In the third flight, the Red Dragons had two entries – the #3 team of freshman Mary Claire Kopcienski (Brockport) and freshman Kristen Snelders (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) and the #4 team of freshman Janette O'Keefe (Cornwall) and freshman Cait Reynar (Tuxedo/Monroe-Woodbury).
 
The third doubles flight featured strictly round-robin play in two groups. O'Keefe and Reynar won Group B in the third flight with a 3-0 record, defeating Plattsburgh #4, 8-6, Plattsburgh #5, 8-2, and Mt. St. Mary #4, 8-0.
 
Kopcienski and Snelders finished second in the Group A of the third flight with a 2-1 record. They beat Mt. St. Mary #3, 8-6, and Hunter #3, 8-0, and lost to Plattsburgh #3, 8-5.
 
The first and second doubles flights featured three-way round-robin group play leading to championship, third-place and fifth-place matchups. In the first flight, Grodotzke and Kumbul lost twice in their group and lost the fifth-place match to Plattsburgh #1, 8-6. In the second flight, Cartwright and Hathaway lost twice in their group and lost in the fifth-place match to Hunter #2, 8-4.
