Cortland Gymnasts Second at Brockport Quad Meet Behind Season-Best Beam Score

Maddy Scozzie tied for sixth on balance beam with a career-high 9.65
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Cortland women's gymnastics team finished in second place out of four schools at a quad meet hosted by The College at Brockport. The Red Dragons finished with a score of 187.475, just more than four tenths of a point ahead of third-place Ithaca's 187.05.

Brockport won with a 192.225, in the process setting a school record for the second straight week in a meet against the Red Dragons. Rhode Island College finished in fourth place with a 176.725.

Cortland posted a season-best balance beam score of 47.875. Amanda Scanlon (Glastonbury, CT) tied her career high in the event with a 9.70 to tie for third place. Maddy Scozzie (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) tied for sixth place with a career-best 9.65 and Emily Nagy (Merrimack, NH) tied for eighth place with a 9.60. Meghan Goyden (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) also finished in the top half of the field on beam with an 11th-place score of 9.525.

Goyden and Elise Konikoff (Hamburg) tied for third place on vault with scores of 9.525. McKenna Passalacqua (Whitesboro) tied for 12th with a 9.35. On uneven bars, Scozzie finished fifth (9.525), Turso tied for seventh (career-best 9.40), Nicole Zangoglia (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) was 11th (9.30) and Meghan Cobb (Hobe Sound, FL/Clark Advanced Learning Ctr.) finished 12th (9.20).

On floor exercise, Goyden and Bailey Gildemeyer (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) each posted a 9.60 to tie for fifth place. Scanlon tied for ninth (9.45) and Scozzie tied for 12th (9.35). Scanlon finished second of two in the all-around with a 36.275.

Brockport's Amanda Carney won vault with a 9.70 and Stephanie Schuler won uneven bars with a 9.75. Ithaca's Hannah Donnelly and Brockport's Faith Burns tied for first on balance beam, each with a 9.75, and Brockport's Lily Jagodzinski won floor with a 9.725. Ithaca's Megan Harrington posted an all-around score of 36.60.

Cortland will host Ithaca in its home finale next Saturday, March 7, at 3:30 p.m.
