CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland broke the school team scoring record and senior
Elise Konikoff (Hamburg) tied the school balance beam record as the Red Dragons defeated visiting Ithaca College, 191.65-190.125, in the final regular-season dual meet of the season.
Cortland's team score eclipsed the previous school record of 191.00 set at last year's NCGA Championships. The Red Dragons posted season-best scores on vault (47.90), uneven bars (47.80) and floor exercise (48.325), and their uneven bars score missed the school record of 47.875 by 0.075 points.
Konikoff won balance beam with a 9.825, matching the school record set by Kelly Caltagirone during the 2000-01 season. Konikoff also won vault with a season-best 9.725.
Sophomore
Meghan Cobb (Hobe Sound, FL/Clark Advanced Learning Ctr.) won uneven bars with a career-best 9.75, which ties for third-best in school history, and senior
Allie Osmundsen (Hicksville) won floor exercise with a career-high 9.825, which is tied for sixth in the school record book.
Senior
Nicole Zangoglia (Old Bridge, NJ) finished second on uneven bars with a 9.60, which matches her career high. Sophomore
Amanda Scanlon (Glastonbury, CT) won the all-around with a 37.975. She tied for second on vault with a career-high 9.625, tied for third on floor exercise with a career-high tying 9.70, and tied for eighth on uneven bars with a career-best 9.40.
Junior
Maddy Scozzie (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) finished third on uneven bards (9.575), tied for sixth on balance beam (9.425) and was seventh on vault (career-high tying 9.525). She also competed in the all-around for the first time this winter and posted a score of 37.575. Junior
Meghan Goyden (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) placed fifth on balance beam with a career-high 9.60, tied for fifth on vault with a season-best 9.575 and finished fifth on floor exercise with a 9.675.
Freshman
Arianna Turso (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) tied for sixth on uneven bars with a career-high 9.475 and tied for sixth on floor exercise with a 9.60 in her first official appearance in the event. Junior
Emily Nagy (Merrimack, NH) tied for sixth on beam (9.425) and freshman
McKenna Passalacqua (Whitesboro) tied her career high on vault with a 9.45 to tie for ninth.
Ithaca's team score of 190.125 fell just short of its school record of 190.45. The Bombers set school records at the meet on both vault (47.70) and beam (47.725). Valerie Cohen tied for second on vault (9.625), Hannah Donnelly finished second on beam (school record-tying 9.80) and Kendra Balcerak was second on floor (9.725). Megan Harrington finished second in the all-around with a 37.75.
Cortland and Ithaca will both compete next Saturday, March 14, at the NCGA East Championships at Ursinus College. The six-team event, which replaces the ECAC Div. III Championships from previous seasons, will determine the qualifiers for the NCGA Championships March 27-28 in La Crosse, Wis.
