CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's gymnastics team posted the sixth-best score in school history in its home dual loss to Division I Cornell University, 192.275-189.30.
Freshman
Rachel Filipski (Lancaster) finished second on vault with a 9.60, while sophomore
Bailey Gildemeyer (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) and senior
Meghan Goyden (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) were part of a three-way tie for second on floor exercise with scores of 9.725.
Senior
Maddy Scozzie (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) placed third on uneven bars with a 9.625. Goyden was fifth on balance beam (9.50), with Scozzie in sixth place (9.40).
Marley Bender (Riverside, CA/Woodcrest Christian), Gildemeyer and Goyden tied for fifth place on vault, each with a 9.475. Gildemeyer posted career bests on both vault and floor exercise.
For Cornell, Alicia Bair won vault (9.725), Kaitlin Green won beam (9.90), Lyanda Dudley won floor exercise (9.775), and Green and Elana Molotsky tied for first on bars (9.80). Dudley was the lone all-around competitor at the meet and finished with a 38.60.
Cortland will travel to Springfield College for a meet on Sunday, January 31, at 1 p.m.
