SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Cortland women's gymnastics team finished in third place in a quad meet with Division I Brown, Division II Southern Connecticut State and host Springfield College. Brown finished with a score of 192.575, followed by Southern Connecticut at 189.025, Cortland at 187.275 and Springfield at 186.85.
 
Rachel Filipski (Lancaster) and McKenna Passalacqua (Whitesboro) placed third and fourth, respectively, on vault. Filipski recorded a 9.625 and Passalacqua finished with a career-best 9.60.
 
On balance beam, Amanda Scanlon (Glastonbury, CT) finished fifth (9.70) and Lily Szafranzski (Williamsville/Williamsville South), in her first action of the season, placed sixth (9.65). Meghan Goyden (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) turned in a fifth-place score of 9.625 on floor exercise, with Bailey Gildemeyer (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) tied for seventh (9.575). Scanlon was the Red Dragons' top performer on uneven bars with a 12th-place score of 9.325.
 
Brown's Corey Holman won vault with a 9.75 and Caroline Morant won uneven bars with a 9.80. Jorden Mitchell of Brown and Rotem Porat of Southern Connecticut tied for first on balance beam (9.80), and Nicole Pruchnik of Southern Connecticut was the floor exercise winner (9.825). Mitchell was the all-around winner with a combined score of 38.55. Cortland did not have any all-around competitors.
 
Cortland will face Division I schools Cornell and Penn next Saturday, February 6, in a 3 p.m. meet at Cornell.
