Bailey Gildemeyer Matches School Balance Beam Record at West Chester Tri-Meet

Bailey Gildemeyer tied the school record on beam and finished fifth on floor and vault
WEST CHESTER, PA. - Senior Bailey Gildemeyer (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) matched the school record on balance beam and registered three top-five finishes as Cortland finished second in a tri-meet hosted by Division II West Chester University.

The host Rams finished first with a score of 192.05, followed by Cortland with a season-best 185.35 and Rhode Island College at 174.80.

Gildemeyer won balance beam with a school record-tying 9.825. Emma Schulz (Poughquag/Arlington), who last weekend became the third Red Dragon to hold a share of that school record, just missed the mark at West Chester and finished in second place with a 9.80.

Cortland's team score on beam of 48.35 is the third-best in school history, behind only the Red Dragons' 48.625 in 2003-04 and 48.40 at nationals in 2014-15. In addition to Gildemeyer and Schulz, Arianna Turso (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) tied for sixth place with a career-high tying 9.675, Julie Giardina (Wantagh) finished eighth with a career-best 9.55, and Genna Orlik (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) placed ninth with a 9.50. Giardina also recorded a career high with her second-place score of 9.70 on floor exercise.

Other Red Dragons who placed in the top half of their events included: Sidney McConnell (Winchester, CA/Vista Murrieta), who was eighth on bars (8.925) and tied for ninth on vault (9.30); Rachel Filipski (Lancaster) with an eighth-place showing on vault (9.40); and Mia Dimartino (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenburg) with a ninth-place finish on bars (8.80).
