SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex


Outdoor Athletic Fields

The SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex, opened in the summer of 2002, features two artificial turf (Sprinturf) fields, both with lights for night contests. One field seats 6,500 spectators, the other 1,500. Among the teams using the facility are football, field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's track and field.

Robert H. Wallace Field, home to the baseball team, is located adjacent to the Lusk Field House. This beautifully maintained site, with its new infield grass, features an air conditioned/heated press box, new dugouts, spectator seating for 600 people, two outdoor batting cages adjacent to the field, and an indoor batting cage in Lusk Field House.

T. Fred Holloway Field is adjacent to the Stadium Complex and is home to Cortland's soccer teams, Holloway Field features a well-maintained natural grass playing surface, an underground sprinkling system, lighting for night games, seating for 1,000 spectators, and nearby restroom and concession services.

Dragon Field, located adjacent to Holloway Field and the Stadium Complex, is home to the Cortland softball team. This natural turf field features a press box and seating for 400 spectators. The facility also features dugouts, bullpen areas and an outdoor batting cage.

Next to the Stadium Complex are five additional natural grass fields which are used for team practices along with various intramurals, club sports and sports camps.

The 22 newly resurfaced, hard court Tennis Courts are located by the Bessie L. Park Center, which offers athletic training, locker room and restroom facilities.

 

Indoor Athletic Facilities


Whitney T. Corey Gymnasium, with a maple hardwood floor, can be divided into three separate gymnasium facilities for use as basketball and volleyball courts. The full-size arena, located in the Park Center, offers 18,000 square feet of space with bleacher seating on both sides to accommodate 3,500 spectators. The site has access to men’s and women’s locker rooms, showers, and an athletic training room. Ten badminton courts, equipped with state-of-the-art Schelde volleyball/badminton systems, are located on the two auxiliary courts. The site has been host to national wrestling, volleyball, gymnastics and basketball tournaments.

Harriet Holsten Pool is home to the Cortland swimming and diving teams. Located in the Park Center, this six-lane, 50-meter pool features seating for 1,500 spectators and a state-of-the-art timing system. The 15-foot diving area, separated by a movable bulkhead, features two one-meter boards, two three-meter boards, a water agitation system, and an underwater viewing deck.

Alumni Arena, a 15,725-square foot facility, hosts the Red Dragon ice hockey teams. Located in the Park Center, the 2,500-seat arena has new dasher boards and an ice resurfacer for skating and hockey events.

Park Center Gymnastics Arena, which is fully equipped for women’s gymnastics competitions, offers balcony seating for 500 spectators.

An Auxiliary Gym, located on the second level of the Park Center next to Corey Gymnasium and the Gymnastics Arena, can accommodate one basketball and/or volleyball court or four badminton courts.

Located in the lower level of the Park Center are: a fully-padded, 3,200-square foot Wrestling Room; 10 regulation-size Racquetball Courts; and eight regulation-size Squash Courts. All of the racquetball and squash courts feature newly-resurfaced, maple hardwood floors and observation decks.

Lusk Field House is a spacious 40,000-square foot building that features a tartan-textured, six-lane indoor track, as well as pole vault and long jump pits. Protective netting can be lowered around the inside perimeter of the track, allowing the area to be used as a practice area for lacrosse, baseball and softball. The field house is designed to be used for three basketball courts, six volleyball courts or 24 badminton courts.
