* Juniata and Mount Union were each making its first appearance in the Red Dragon Classic.
* Seven of the tournament’s 12 teams were 2012 NCAA Div. III tournament participants. Six won conference titles – Cortland (SUNYAC), Baruch (CUNYAC), Nazareth (Empire 8), Clarkson (Liberty League), Richard Stockton (New Jersey Athletic Conference) and Juniata (Landmark), while Mount Union was an at-large selection. Clarkson advanced to the 2012 NCAA quarterfinals. Cortland, Juniata, Mount Union and Richard Stockton each advanced to the second round.
* The tournament featured four nationally ranked teams – Mount Union (11th), Juniata (20th), Clarkson (23rd) and Cortland (24th). Richard Stockton was among the “others receiving votes” in the preseason national poll.
