Chris Schilly Daymont excelled on Cortland's track and field and club cross country teams. She went on to become one of the nation's most successful collegiate coaches at St. Olaf College in Minnesota.
 
* A native of Central Square, N.Y., she originally attended Hartwick College before transferring to Cortland. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Cortland in 1975 and a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Syracuse University in 1976.
 
* Competed in track and field for two seasons (1974-75) in dashes, hurdles, middle distance, jumps and relays, as well as one season each of basketball and club cross country, and set numerous school track and field records.
 
* Qualified for first-ever Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) outdoor track and field championships in 1975.
 
* While at Cortland, also competed in Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) meets for the Syracuse Chargers track club. Qualified for two AAU national meets and finished seventh nationally in the 440-yard dash in 1974.
 
* Physical education instructor, head women's cross country coach, head women's track and field coach, and assistant women's basketball coach at St. Olaf from 1976-81.
 
* Taught and coached at Bloomsburg (Pa.) University (1981-84) and at Macalester College (Minn.) (1984-86). Coached a four-time cross country/track and field national champion at Macalester.
 
* Returned to St. Olaf in 1986. Promoted to Associate Professor of Exercise Science in 1992. Women's cross country head coach (1986-present) and women's track and field head coach (1986-2010).
 
* Three-time Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAC) Cross Country Coach of the Year and four-time NCAA Central Region Cross Country Coach of the Year.
 
* St. Olaf cross country teams finished second at AIAW nationals twice and have made 23 NCAA championship appearances. Top 10 program nationally 11 times and has won nine MIAC titles. Track and field athletes have won three individual national titles and 126 MIAC crowns. In all, her St. Olaf student-athletes have earned 86 All-America honors.
 
* 2013 St. Olaf Athletic Hall of Fame inductee - inducted the same year as her daughter, Megan Daymont Thomas, who was a star track and field athlete at St. Olaf.
 
* 2014 inductee into the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches Hall of Fame.
 
* Entering her 25th year as on-site meet director of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) State High School Cross Country Championships in 2016.
