David Miller was a member of the Cortland track team from 1933-36 and the football team from 1932-34. Dave was a Red Letter Award winner in both sports.
David was the director of athletics and physical education at Phelps Central School, Phelps, N.Y., from 1936-1942. Dave served as a U.S. Naval Reserve Recruit Training Officer and the Executive Officer aboard Landing Ship Medium from 1942-45.
He was director of athletics and physical education at Sherburne Central School in Sherburne, N.Y., from 1946-48. Dave served as an associate professor of physical education and coach at SUNY Cortland from 1948-77, where he coached wrestling and track and field. Dave was inducted into the NYS College Wrestling Association's Hall of Fame in 1977. He and his wife, Eleanor Miller ’60, have two children: Eleanor and John.
