Before coming to Cortland, John C. "Jack" Tuthill attended Southhold High School where he had the speed and form to win letters in basketball, baseball, track, golf, football and table tennis. After high school, Jack enrolled at Cortland where he was an outstanding outfielder with the Red Dragon baseball teams. He graduated from Cortland in 1948 and earned his master's degree from Ithaca College.
Tuthill has been with the Professional Golfers Association since 1960. As tournament director, his job involves a wide range of responsibilities in the conduct of golf tournaments as they relate to the interpretation of rules, course conditions, scoring and overall arrangements.
Before joining the PGA, Tuthill worked with the New York State Labor Department and later became an investigator with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He also served as a labor relations specialist with Republic Aviation Corporation.
UPDATE: Tuthill passed away on Oct. 24, 2005.
