Seven Red Dragons Receive SUNYAC Men's Hockey Postseason Honors

Seven SUNY Cortland players have been recognized by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), as the conference unveiled its men's ice hockey all-conference and all-rookie teams on Thursday. Graduate student forward Nate Berke (Williamsville/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and junior goaltender Ronan Mobley (Playa Del Ray, CA/New Hampshire Avalanche) were chosen to the all-league first team, while senior forward Domenic Settimo (East Meadow/P.A.L. Jr. Islanders), junior forward Colby Seitz (Eden/Corpus Christi Ice Rays), and senior defenseman Johnny Facchini (Succasunna, NJ/P.A.L. Jr. Islanders) were named to the second team. In addition, freshman forwards Sam Christiano (Buffalo/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and Justin Legault (Oakville, ON/Burlington Cougars) were selected to the 2024-25 SUNYAC All-Rookie Team. 
 
Berke earns the third all-conference honor of his career after being named to the second team in each of the past two seasons. He has played in all 25 games for the Red Dragons, recording a team-high 38 points on 15 goals and 23 assists. His 15 goals and 23 assists are also each tied for the team lead. Berke's 38 points are the most in the SUNYAC, and his average of 1.52 points per game is the fifth-highest mark in the nation. He had at least one point in 19-of-25 games overall, including a five-point night in a victory over St. Anselm, and tallying two goals and two assists in a win over Curry. 
 
Mobley has played in 22 games for Cortland with 20 starts in goal, recording a 17-3-0 record, a .914 save percentage, a 2.28 GAA, and one shutout, while also providing one assist. His 17 victories are tied for the most in program history, and his .850 win percentage is tied for sixth in the country. In 13 games of conference play, Mobley took his game to another level, going 12-1-0 with a .934 save percentage and a 1.70 GAA. He registered a 28-save shutout in a win at Buffalo State, and stopped 32-of-33 shots in a victory at Oswego.
 
Seitz earns a conference honor for the third straight season, being named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year and to the SUNYAC All-Rookie Team in 2022-23 and to the all-conference third team last season. He has skated in all 25 games for the Red Dragons, and is second on the team with 26 points on 10 goals and 16 assists. He also tallied 17 points, six goals and 11 assists, in conference play to finish tied for third in the SUNYAC. He registered at least one point in 17-of-25 games, and was on the scoresheet in eight of the final nine games of the regular season. He scored a pair of goals in a victory over Curry, and had a goal and two assists in a win over Plattsburgh.
 
Settimo is an all-league selection for the second time, earning first team recognition in 2022-23. He is tied for the Cortland lead with 15 goals, and has also added eight assists for 23 points in 25 games. In 14 SUNYAC league games, he led the conference with 10 goals and was tied for third with 17 points. Settimo scored three times and added an assist in a victory over Morrisville to help Cortland clinch the regular-season title, and netted two goals each in victories over St. Anselm, Oswego, and Plattsburgh.  
   
Facchini makes the jump to the second team after earning a third team all-conference nod last season. He has played in 24 games for the Red Dragons, scoring two goals and tying for the team lead with 23 assists. Facchini's 25 points are most among defensemen in the SUNYAC, and his 0.96 assists per game are tied for sixth in the nation. He played in 13 conference games, tallying one goal and 11 assists for the Red Dragons. Facchini also ended the regular season with 20 points in the final 14 games.
 
Christiano has played in all 25 games for Cortland, scoring 20 points on 10 goals and 10 assists. His 20 points are sixth on Cortland and tied for 18th in the SUNYAC. In 14 SUNYAC games, Christiano provided 13 points on three goals and 10 assists to tie for 13th in the conference. Christiano scored twice and added an assist for Cortland in the win over Morrisville to clinch the regular-season title, and provided three assists in a victory over Fredonia. 
 
Legault has skated in all 25 games for the Red Dragons, providing 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists. His 22 points are fifth on the Red Dragons, and tied for 14th in the SUNYAC. Legault all contributed 10 points on four goals and six assists in conference play, and won 52.1% of his faceoffs during the season. He scored three goals and tallied one assist in a win over St. Anselm, and had multi-point nights in five games.
 
The SUNYAC will announce the winners of its men's ice hockey major awards next week. 
 
Cortland finished the regular season with a 19-6 record, tying the program record for most wins in a season. The Red Dragons went 12-2 in SUNYAC play to win the regular-season title, also setting a school record for most conference victories in a season. Cortland earned its fourth straight conference playoff berth, and will host Plattsburgh in the semifinals on Saturday, with game time set for 7 p.m.
