Sam played a vital role both offensively and defensively for the Red Dragons in a 2-1 win over nationally 23rd-ranked Vassar. He opened the scoring in the 44th minute, and he made multiple key interventions to hold Vassar, which entered averaging four goals per contest, to just one score.
