Pam Hoerup enters her 12th season as the head coach for the Cortland women’s volleyball program in 2016. Hoerup has a career record of 311-128 (.708) and has led the Red Dragons to 20 or more victories nine times.

In 2011, Hoerup guided Cortland to one of the best campaigns in program history. The Red Dragons finished with a 42-2 record, which included winning streaks of 20 and 22 matches, tied for fifth at the NCAA Div. III Tournament and captured the SUNYAC title — the program’s fifth league crown in Hoerup’s seven-year tenure. Two Cortland players were honorable mention All-Americans and one was named the SUNYAC East Player of the Year.

In 2012, Cortland finished 34-6 and won its sixth State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title during Hoerup’s tenure. The Red Dragons advanced to the second round of the NCAA Div. III tournament and tied for 17th nationally. Three Cortland players earned honorable mention All-America honors and one was named SUNYAC East Player of the Year.

In 2010, Hoerup led Cortland to a 34-8 record and the SUNYAC title. The Red Dragons advanced to the second round of the NCAA Div. III tournament and tied for 17th nationally. Two Cortland players were honorable mention All-Americans and one was named the SUNYAC East Player of the Year.

In 2009, the Red Dragons finished 25-12 and advanced to the SUNYAC championship match. One of Hoerup’s players earned SUNYAC East Rookie of the Year honors. In 2008, Hoerup led the Red Dragons to a 30-11 record, as two of her players earned honorable mention All-America recognition. In 2007, the Red Dragons posted a 32-11 overall record, tied for 17th nationally in Division III, captured the SUNYAC Tournament title and recorded a perfect 10-0 mark in the SUNYAC East Division.

In 2006, Cortland’s 29-13 record included three victories at the conference postseason tournament and a win in the opening round of the NCAA playoffs. In 2005, Hoerup guided the Red Dragons to a 33-8 record, a SUNYAC title and a tie for ninth nationally. One of her players was named the New York Region Freshman of the Year and NYSWCAA and SUNYAC Rookie of the Year.

Cortland has qualified for the SUNYAC tournament every year under Hoerup, including semifinal appearances in 2013 and 2015 and a quarterfinal showing in 2014.

Prior to Cortland, Hoerup coached the girls’ varsity volleyball team at Trumansburg High School from 1990-2003. She compiled a 216-59 record and led the team to four state final four appearances in her last eight years, including 2002-03. She also coached modified volleyball from 1995-2003 and junior varsity basketball from 1990-94 at Trumansburg and was inducted into the Trumansburg Hall of Fame in 2012. Hoerup was a Cortland assistant coach in 2004.

Hoerup, who received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical education from Cortland, was a four-year member of the Red Dragon volleyball squad from 1986-89. She was a two-time team captain and earned All-SUNYAC and all-region honors as a senior. She’s currently ranked 26th in school history with 690 career kills.

A native of Goshen, N.Y., Hoerup is a 1985 graduate of Goshen High School, where she lettered in soccer, basketball and volleyball and was named Female Athlete of the Year as a senior. She was selected for induction into the Goshen Athletics Hall of Fame for September 2016.
