STATE COLLEGE, PA. – The SUNY Cortland women's cross country team, the lone Division III entry in the race, tied for 20th out of 25 schools at the Penn State National Invitational.
West Virginia captured the team title with 86 points, followed by Penn State with 110 points. Cortland and Bloomsburg each posted a score of 603 to tie for 20th, five points ahead of South Carolina and nine points better than Slippery Rock.
Sophomore Lisa Holt (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough) was Cortland's top individual, covering the 6,000-meter course in 23:23 to finish 122nd out of 278 runners. Sophomore Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip) placed 132nd (23:27) and junior Erin McGrath (Oakdale/Connetquot) was 154th (23:50).
Junior Brittany Brunetto (Fishkill/Beacon) was the Red Dragons' fourth finisher and placed 177th overall (24:17). Also in Cortland's top seven were sophomore Nicole Staudt (Sound Beach/Rocky Point) in 187th place (24:21), freshman Jess Glass (Commack) in 213th place (24:55) and freshman Caitlin Sullivan (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) in 214th place (24:56).
