NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team finished second at the season-opening New York University Invitational. NYU won the meet with 1,187 points, followed by Cortland with 877 and Stevens Institute with 717. Senior
Brett Humphreys (Amsterdam) won both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.51) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.79).
Sophomore Daniel Evans (Hamburg) captured the 100-yard freestyle (48.04) and was second in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.14) and 200-yard freestyle (1:48.83), while senior
Kevin Stuttle (Dryden) won 3-meter diving (274.83 points) and placed second in 1-meter diving (234.90 points).
Cortland also finished second in two relays. The combination of freshman
Luis Welch (Avon), Humphreys, junior
Drew Hilker (Ithaca) and Evans touched the wall second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:40.63) and the 400-yard freestyle relay of Evans, senior
Jeremy Cuebas (Brentwood), sophomore
Jeff Moessinger (Buffalo/Iroquois) and Hilker was second in 3:20.17.
