Red Dragons Second at SUNYAC Championships; Holt Earns All-League Honors

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Cortland women's cross country team finished second out of 10 teams at the 2007 SUNYAC Championships on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons (75 points) trailed Geneseo (20) and finished ahead of Plattsburgh (92), Brockport (111), Fredonia (154), Oneonta (161), New Paltz (184), Oswego (196), Buffalo St. (246) and Potsdam (294).

Geneseo junior Elizabeth Montgomery, who finished second in 2006, won the race in 21:54.0. Cortland's top finisher was sophomore Lisa Holt (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough), who covered the 6,000-meter course in 23:38.0 to place 10th overall and earn second team All-SUNYAC honors.

Two other Red Dragons, junior Brittany Brunetto (Fishkill/Beacon) and junior Erin McGrath (Camillus/West Genesee) earned second team all-conference honors with their 14th-place (14:04.0) and 15th-place (24:11.0) finishes, respectively. Sophomore Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip) finished 17th in 24:18.0, and sophomore Nicole Staudt (Sound Beach/Rocky Point) crossed the finish line in 19th place (24:27.0) to round out Cortland's scorers.

The Red Dragons' other competitors were freshman Caitlin Sullivan (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison), who finished 21st in 24:45.0 and freshman Jess Glass (Commack), who finished 24th in 24:56.0.
