CORTLAND, N.Y. –  Cortland placed second at a quad meet hosted by the Red Dragons. Geneseo scored 478 points to edge the Red Dragons, who finished with 473 points. Potsdam (219) was third and Brockport (156) placed fourth. Sophomore Daniel Evans (Hamburg) won both the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.23) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.66).

Junior David Dow (Port St. Lucie, FL/Glastonbury (CT)) won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:27.73) and senior Brett Humphreys (Amsterdam) posted the fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.11). Also victorious was the 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Luis Welch (Avon), Humphreys, junior Drew Hilker (Ithaca) and senior Alan Marcel (Central Islip) in a time of 1:38.69.

Marcel finished second in two events – the 50-yard freestyle (21.91) and 100-yard freestyle (49.67). Humphreys was runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.13), sophomore Jeff Moessinger (Buffalo/Iroquois) was second in the 100-yard butterfly (55.26) and junior Brett Poffenbarger (Owego/Owego Free Academy) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.47).

Other runners-up were senior Kevin Stuttle (Dryden) in 3-meter diving (271.05 pts.) and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of senior Evan Jones (East Amherst/Williamsville North), senior Jeremy Cuebas (Brentwood), freshman James McCabe (North Massapequa/Farmingdale) and Evans (1:30.94).
