Red Dragons Fifth at NCAA Regionals; Holt and Hollborn Earn All-Region Honors

BRONX, N.Y. – The Cortland women's cross country team finished fifth in a field of 37 schools at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional, hosted by New York University at Van Cortlandt Park. Geneseo and Plattsburgh shared the team title with 41 points apiece to earn NCAA berths. Ithaca finished third with 116 points, followed by The College of New Jersey (146), Cortland (171) and Rochester (275).

Sophomore Lisa Holt (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough) and junior Alanna Hollborn (Islip Terrace/East Islip) earned all-region honors for the Red Dragons. Holt finished 19th out of 255 runners with a time of 22:39.8 over 6,000 meters. Hollborn was 23rd overall in 22:48.1.

Holt individually qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships, which will be held Nov. 17 in Northfield, Minn. The Red Dragons did not earn a team berth, nor were they chosen for an at-large berth, into nationals.

Sophomore Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip) missed all-region honors by three spots with a 38th-place time of 23:16.8. Freshman Caitlin Sullivan (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) finished 46th (23:35.1), followed directly by junior Brittany Brunetto (Fishkill/Beacon) in 47th (23:40.4) and sophomore Nicole Staudt (Sound Beach/Rocky Point) in 48th (also officially in 23:40.4). Sophomore Katie Dylag (Williamsville/Williamsville East) rounded out the Cortland contingent with a 76th-place finish (24:21.2).
