Cortland Third at NYSCTC Championships; Holt Earns All-State Recognition

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Cortland finished third out of 16 teams at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC)  Cross Country Championships, hosted by RPI at the Saratoga Spa State Park.

Geneseo won the title with 31 points, followed by Ithaca (88), Cortland (124), St. Lawrence (173) and Brockport (175) in the top five.

Sophomore Lisa Holt (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough) was Cortland's top finisher with an 18th-place time of 18:29 over 5,000 meters. She earned honorable mention all-state honors for her performance. The NYSCTC awards first-team honors to the 1-7 finishers, second team to spots 8-14 and honorable mention to places 15-21.

Freshman Caitlin Sullivan (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) and junior Alanna Hollborn (Islip Terrace/East Islip) were 24th and 25th, respectively. Sullivan finished in 18:50, with Hollborn one second behind her. Junior Erin McGrath (Oakdale/Connetquot) and sophomore Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip) both were timed at 18:56, with McGrath awarded 29th place and Ramsbotham 30th place. In all, 142 runners competed.
