Hollborn Wins 3,000-Meter Run at Cornell Relays

ITHACA, N.Y. – Junior Alanna Hollborn (Islip Terrace/East Islip) won the 3,000-meter run to highlight Cortland's performances at the season-opening Cornell Relays. There was no team scoring at the meet.

Hollborn was one of five Red Dragons to place in the top nine of the 3,000 meters with her ECAC-qualifying time of 10:35.16. Sophomore Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip) also reached ECAC qualifying standards with her third-place time of 10:51.08. Freshman Caitlin Sullivan (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) finished fifth in the event (11:00.82), sophomore Katie Dylag (Williamsville/Williamsville East) was sixth (11:03.68) and freshman Jess Glass (Commack) placed ninth (11:20.32).

Cortland posted a pair of ECAC-qualifying performances in two field events. Junior Sarah Kimball (Liverpool) finished third in the pole vault at 10' 10", with junior Keri Laviska (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) in fourth place at 10' 4". In the long jump, sophomore Erin Sills (Smithtown) finished seventh (16' 10.5") and senior Christa McGough (Remsen) was eighth (16' 8.5").

The Red Dragons' other ECAC effort came from junior Carly Kennedy (North Tonawanda), sophomore Mallory Baker (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa), freshman Jessica Stanton (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) and senior Ashley Wirges (Hopewell Junction/Arlington), who finished fifth in the 4x400-meter relay (4:09.91).

A trio of Red Dragons finished in the top 10 in the 5,000-meter run. Junior Brittany Brunetto (Beacon) earned fifth-place honors (19:40.24), followed by sophomore Gina Smith (East Meadow) in eighth (20:04.47) and sophomore Lauren Phillips (Batavia) in 10th (20:21.21). Cortland's other top-10 showing at the meet was an eighth-place finish by sophomore Nicole Ragard (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) in the pole vault (9' 4.25").
