CANTON, N.Y. – SUNY Cortland junior
Sarah Kimball (Liverpool) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in the pole vault and was one of five Red Dragons to win events at the St. Lawrence University Women's Track and Field Holiday Relays.
Kimball cleared 11' 3.75” to take top honors in the pole vault. She also finished second in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.13 seconds. Sophomore
Erin Gallagher (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) won the 55-meter hurdles with an ECAC Division III Championship qualifying time of 8.97 seconds.
Other Cortland winners were sophomore
Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) in the high jump (5' 2.25”), senior
Christa McGough (Remsen) in the long jump (16' 7.25”) and senior
Ashley Wirges (Hopewell Junction/Arlington) in the 400 meters (1:02.28). Serikstad's and McGough's performances were ECAC qualifiers.
Junior
Keri Laviska (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) was runner-up to Kimball in the pole vault, clearing 10' 10”. Sophomore
Katie Taber (Montour Falls/Odessa-Montour) finished third in the 55-meter hurdles (9.15) and was fourth in the long jump (15' 5.5”). Junior
Alanna Hollborn (Islip Terrace/East Islip) and sophomore
Lisa Holt (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough) each qualified for the ECAC's in the 5,000 meters. Hollborn finished third in 18:17.18 and Holt was fourth in 18:29.71.
Other highlights included an ECAC-qualifying, third-place time of 1:49.33 by Gallagher, sophomore
Mallory Baker (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa), McGough and Wirges in the 4x200-meter relay, a third-place finish by freshman
Valerie Winberry (Bay Shore) in the shot put (34' 6.25”) and a fourth-place effort by junior
Kara Cangemi (Central Square/Paul V. Moore) in the high jump (4' 10.25”).
