Red Dragons Knock Off Rochester, Stay Unbeaten in Dual Action

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Freshman Jennifer Thorpe (Lakewood/Southwestern), senior Erica Clark (Sloatsburg/Suffern) and senior Amy Jones (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) each won two individual events as Cortland's women's swimming and diving team improved to 4-0 with a 177-5-117.5 dual-meet victory over the University of Rochester.

Thorpe won both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.12) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.29), while Clark captured the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.59) and 200-yard individual medley (2:21.95), the latter as an exhibition entry. Jones won both diving events, earning 240.68 points on the one-meter board and 258.08 points on the three-meter board.

Five other Red Dragon women earned individual victories. Senior Sarah O'Loughlin (Pleasantville) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.93) and sophomore Kristin Barnoski (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) won the 50-yard freestyle (25.63).

Sophomore Katie Molzan (Plattsburgh/Peru) captured the 100-yard freestyle (57.52), sophomore Krista Bergquist (West Islip) won the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.49) and junior Lauren Friedlander (Woodbury/Syosset) touched the wall first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.99). Bergquist, sophomore Taylor Houseman (Wellsville), O'Loughlin and Barnoski opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay (1:54.55).
