NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Cortland men's swimming and diving team opened the season with a third-place finish at the NYU Invitational Friday and Saturday. NYU finished with 1,196 points, followed by Stevens Institute with 1,012 and Cortland with 786.

Dan Evans (Hamburg) won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.10 seconds and finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.83 seconds. He also teamed with sophomore

Drew Hilker (Ithaca) and junior
Jeff Moessinger (Buffalo/Iroquois) to take top honors in the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.28).
Hilker turned in three top-four individual finishes. He placed third in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.23) and 100-yard butterfly (55.39) and was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (49.42). Moessinger finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.66) and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (56.09), while sophomore
Mihali Tzetzis (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) was second in three-meter diving (187.13 points).

Travis Burke's (Massapequa) third place finish in three-meter diving (170.10 points), freshman
Judd Simon's (Oneida) third place performance in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.93) and freshman
