CLINTON, N.Y. – The nationally 13th-ranked Cortland cross country team placed seventh out of 11 teams at the Hamilton Invitational without the majority of its top runners competing. The Red Dragons finished with 218 points. Queen's University won the event with 25 points.
Junior
Katie Dylag (Williamsville/Williamsville East) turned in Cortland's top time, covering the 5,000-meter course in 19:41.9 to finish 34th. Ithaca senior Lindsey Nadolski won the race in 17:38.3.The Red Dragons next three finishers were freshmen –
Katie Poleski (Ossining), 59th in 20:41.2,
Anna Kolbe (Fultonville/Fonda-Fultonville), 63rd in 20:55.6 and Valerie Basciano (New City/Albertus Magnus), 73rd in 21:26.
Completing the scoring for the Red Dragons were sophomore Steph McGrath (Camillus/West Genesee), 78th in 21:38.8, sophomore
Melissa Da Costa (Centereach), 91st in 22:02.2 and freshman
Lauren Herman (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills West), 101st in 22:55.4.
The Red Dragons return to action at the Penn St. National Open next Friday.
