UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. – The SUNY Cortland men's cross country team, ranked first nationally in Division III, finished in fourth place against mainly a Division I field at the Penn State National. Georgetown, ranked eighth in Division I, won the meet with 43 points, followed by Penn State with 93 points.
Villanova, the 28th-ranked team in Division I, barely edged Cortland with 126 points to the Red Dragons' 127. Cortland defeated 18 Division I teams in the 28-team field along with four Division II schools.
Cortland's top nine runners in the race finished in the top 100 of the 306-runner field. Senior
Shamus Nally (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) placed 16th overall with a time of 25:37 on a 5.2-mile course. Senior
Josh Henry (Truxton/Homer) finished 23rd in 25:50, with senior
Seth DuBois (Altamont/Guilderland) right behind him in 24th place in 25:51.

Justin Wager (Guilderland) crossed the finish line 34th in 26:02 and junior
Jerry Greenlaw (Warwick/Warwick Valley) was 36th in 26:03. Junior
Kyle O'Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) finished 58th (26:21), sophomore
Stephen Scrafford (Cooperstown) placed 75th (26:33), junior
Eric Stermer (Chenango Forks) was 76th (26:34) and junior
Travis DeRusso (East Berne/Berne-Knox-Westerlo) finished 91st (26:40).
