CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior
Roy Culkin (Holtsville/Sachem East) won two events and anchored a winning relay team as Cortland opened its dual-meet season with a 125-111 victory over visiting Buffalo State.
Culkin captured the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:18.78 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:28.32. He teamed with sophomore
Matt Young (Richmondville/Schoharie), freshman Dan Salvatore (Clarence) and sophomore
James McCabe (North Massapequa/Farmingdale) to finish first as an exhibition entry in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:34.05) to close the meet.
Sophomore Daniel Caputo (Staten Island/Curtis) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.40) and McCabe captured the 50-yard freestyle (23.37). Freshman
Dan Drew (Victor) won the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.04) and junior
Jeff Moessinger (Buffalo/Iroquois) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.68).

John Minnick (Latham/Shaker) in the 100-yard freestyle (51.12), freshman
Mike Sorrentino (Glens Falls) in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.00) and freshman
Judd Simon (Oneida) as an exhibition entry in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.02). In diving action, freshman
Travis Burke (Massapequa) won on the three-meter board (212.92 points) and sophomore
Mihali Tzetzis (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) won as an exhibition entry on the one-meter board (190.72 points).
