Cortland Suffers First Dual Loss of Season at Geneseo

Danielle McCarthy won both diving events
GENESEO, N.Y. - Cortland suffered its first dual-meet loss in three tries this season with a 138-105 setback at Geneseo.

Sophomore Danielle McCarthy (Johnson City) won both diving events for the Red Dragons with scores of 208.30 points on the 1-meter board and 207.45 points on the 3-meter board. Junior Samantha Buckley (Holbrook/Sachem North) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:05.75 and sophomore Liz Neddo (Syracuse/Fowler) took top honors in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:14.71.

Cortland also won the opening 400-yard medley relay as junior Krista Bergquist (West Islip), junior Taylor Houseman (Wellsville), Neddo and junior Kristin Barnoski (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) were timed in 3:49.57.

The Red Dragons earned six runner-up finishes - Barnoski in the 50-yard freestyle (25.41), sophomore Stephenie Bintz (Altamont/Guilderland) in the 200-yard backstroke (2:18.70), Neddo in the 500-yard freestyle (5:24.05), Houseman in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.17), junior Lauryn Kaznowski (Kingston) in 1-meter diving (189.20 points) and senior Jeannine McNamara (Williamsville/Williamsville East) in 3-meter diving (186.70 points).
