Lauren Friedlander (Woodbury/Syosset) and sophomore
Liz Neddo (Syracuse/Fowler) each captured two individual events as Cortland defeated Oneonta, 118-114, in a dual meet at Holsten Pool. The meet was Cortland's final home outing of the 2008-09 season. Cortland is now 3-1 in dual action, while Oneonta falls to 1-3.
Friedlander won the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.05) and 100-yard freestyle (55.91), while Neddo took top honors in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:19.76) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.21). Other Cortland individual winners included junior
Katie Molzan (Plattsburgh/Peru Central) in the 50-yard freestyle (26.60), freshman
Laura Bohneberg (Lockport) in the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.64), sophomore
Teresa Riley (Liverpool) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:36.74) and sophomore
Sarah Wignall (Weedsport) as an exhibition entry in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.87).
Cortland also opened the meet with a victory by junior
Samantha Buckley (Holbrook/Sachem North), Bohneberg, sophomore
Rachel Phillips (Angola/Eden) and junior
Kristin Barnoski (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) in the 200-yard medley relay (1:57.04). The combination of Molzan, junior
Krista Bergquist (West Islip), freshman
Rachel Louise (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) and Barnoski closed the night with the best time in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:45.94) as an exhibition entry.
Oneonta's Ashlee Tocheny (Johnson City) won both diving events, scoring 198.52 points on the 1-meter board and 208.50 points on the 3-meter board. In addition, Michelle Sano (Albany) won the 100-yard backstroke for the guests in 1:04.03.
