Red Dragons Win Five at SLU Holiday Relays

Caleb Olsen edged two runners at the finish line to win the mile run
CANTON, N.Y. - Cortland athletes won five events and set three meet records at the St. Lawrence University Holiday Relays. In all, the Red Dragons earned 16 top-five finishes at the non-team scoring meet.

Junior Seth DuBois (Altamont/Guilderland) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships and set both meet and field house records with his time of 14:35.05 in the 5,000 meters. Junior Joe Keleher (Newfane) set a meet record in the 55-meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 7.78 seconds, then broke that mark with his winning time of 7.75 seconds in the finals.

Freshman Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) and senior Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs) both established meet and field house records and provisionally qualified for nationals with heights of 15' 7" in the pole vault. Pericozzi officially finished first and Zanetti was second due to number of misses. Junior Caleb Olsen (Bellmore/J.F.K. Bellmore) edged out two St. Lawrence runners to win the mile run. Olsen finished in 4:27.44, with the next two runners each crossing less than a half of a second later.

Cortland's other victory came from the 4x200-meter relay team of junior Noah Rappahahn (Lebanon, CT/Lyman Memorial), sophomore Phill Wiltshire (Apalachin/Vestal), freshman Zac Farnham-Haskell (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) and sophomore Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) with a time of 1:32.96.

Senior Josh Henry (Truxton/Homer) placed second behind DuBois in the 5,000 meters, also provisionally qualifying for nationals with his time of 14:46.08. Bisceglia finished second in the 400 meters (50.09), Rappahahn was third in the 55-meter dash (6.81) and Keleher finished third in the pole vault (14' 7.25").

Junior Durrell Reed (Syracuse/Corcoran) turned in a third-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles (8.24) and a fifth-place effort in the long jump (18' 2.5"). Junior Todd Plumer (Beacon) placed third in the weight throw (42' 5.25") and fifth in the shot put (36' 1.5"). In addition, Farnham-Haskell finished fourth in the 400 meters (52.09) and sophomore Sa-id Shakir (Syracuse/Bishop Grimes) finished fifth in the 55-meter dash (6.87).
