ITHACA, N.Y. - Cortland senior
Ashley Wirges (Hopewell Junction/Arlington) earned two top-six finishes at the Kane Invitational, hosted by Cornell University. Wirges placed fifth in the 400 meters with an ECAC Championship qualifying time of 1:00.35 and finished sixth in the 60-meter dash in 8.30 seconds.
Sophomore
Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) posted Cortland's highest finish at the meet. She tied for second overall, and was the top collegiate finisher, in the high jump with an ECAC-qualifying height of 5' 3". Junior
Sarah Kimball (Liverpool) finished third in the pole vault with an ECAC height of 10' 10" and was also 10th in the 60-meter hurdles at 10.09 seconds.
Freshman Jessica Stanton (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) placed eighth in the 400 meters (1:02.01), while junior
Carly Kennedy (North Tonawanda) finished ninth in the 60-meter hurdles (10.07) and 11th in the 200 meters (27.63).
Four other Red Dragons posted top-12 finishes. Sophomore
Nicole Ragard (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) finished 10th in the pole vault (9' 6.25"), sophomore
Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip) was 11th in the 800 meters (2:25.63), sophomore
Erin Sills (Smithtown) finished 11th in the long jump (16' 2.25") and freshman
Valerie Winberry (Bay Shore) placed 12th in the shot put (33' 10.75").
