BOSTON, MASS. - Junior
Alanna Hollborn (Islip Terrace/East Islip) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships in the 5,000 meters to highlight Cortland's performances at the Boston University Valentine Invitational.
Hollborn finished 11th in the event with a time of 17:27.97. She also anchored Cortland's distance medley relay, which also featured sophomore
Lisa Holt (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough), sophomore
Mallory Baker (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) and sophomore
Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip), that finished 14th with an ECAC-qualifying time of 12:18.82.
A number of Red Dragons posted career-best times that were also ECAC qualifiers at the meet. They included Holt in the 5,000 meters (32nd, 18:09.95), freshman Andrea Palen (Gardiner/Wallkill) in the 3,000 meters (37th, 10:38.10), freshman Jessica Stanton (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) in the 800 meters (2:22.63) and three competitors in the 400 meters - senior
Ashley Wirges (Hopewell Junction/Arlington) (43rd, 59.76), Baker (49th, 1:00.00) and junior
Carly Kennedy (North Tonawanda) (54th, 1:00.59).
Wirges also qualified for ECACs with her 81st-place time of 27.04 seconds in the 200 meters. The combination of Kennedy, Baker, Wirges and Stanton posted an ECAC-qualifying time of 4:06.45 for 28th place in the 4x400-meter relay.
