CANTON, N.Y. – Cortland won four individual titles, broke two school records and set two meet records at the two-day New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Championships, hosted by St. Lawrence University.
The Red Dragons finished third out of 15 schools in the team standings with 103 points. St. Lawrence won the title with 127.5 points, nipping Buffalo State by half a point. Cortland, RIT (83) and Ithaca (62.5) rounded out the top five.
Sophomore
Justin Wager (Guilderland) set new meet and Newell Field House records and broke his own school record with his winning time of 1:53.21 in the 800 meters. The time is an NCAA provisional qualifier. His previous school record was 1:55.13 set earlier this season. Sophomore
Seth DuBois (Altamont/Guilderland) also set a school record and broke the field house record in the 3,000 meters with his time of 8:29.49. The previous school mark was 8:30.23 by Andrew Cloke in 2006.
Also winning state titles were senior
Amaan Siddeeq (Goshen) in the 55-meter dash (6.39) and junior
Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs) in the pole vault (15' 5.5”). Siddeeq's time is a new meet record. Zanetti won his third straight state pole vault title with a new field house record and NCAA provisional qualifying height.
Senior
Kevin Ma (Cornwall) finished second in the 55-meter dash (6.56) and freshman
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) was the runner-up in the 400 meters (50.39, 50.29 prelims). Senior
Matt Bieringer (Center Moriches) placed third in the 400 meters (50.59), junior
Niko Viglione (Purdys/Somers) finished third in the mile (4:16.93) and sophomore
Trey Monaco (Buffalo/Frontier) was third in the high jump (6' 3.5”).

J.J. Riese (Central Square/Paul V. Moore), Bieringer, freshman
Adam Groesbeck (Kirkville/East Syracuse-Minoa) and Bisceglia finished third in 3:26.12, while the 4x200-meter relay unit of senior
Stan Cadet (Hicksville), sophomore
Noah Rappahahn (Lebanon, CT/Lyman Memorial), freshman
Will Razzano (Riverhead) and Groesbeck finished fourth in 1:34.36.
Sophomore
Caleb Olsen (Bellmore/J.F.K. Bellmore) turned in a fourth-place effort in the 800 meters (1:56.12), sophomore
Drew Hilker (Ithaca) finished fifth in the high jump (6' 3.5”) and Razzano was fifth in the triple jump (43' 3.25”). Hilker cleared the same height as Monaco but was fifth due to more misses than Monaco.
Also scoring points for the Red Dragons were junior
Shamus Nally (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) in the mile (7th place, 4:22.21), senior
James Barracca (Center Moriches/Sachem North) in the mile (8th place, 4:24.24), sophomore
Joe Keleher (Newfane) in the 55-meter hurdles (8th place, 8.07, 7.98 prelims) and Riese in the 55-meter dash (8th place, 6.70, 6.64 prelims).
