WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – Cortland senior
Amaan Siddeeq (Goshen) posted NCAA provisional qualifying times in two individual events and one relay at the Colonial Relays, hosted by William and Mary. The Red Dragons, one of only two non-Division I schools at the meet, finished ninth out of 20 in the final team standings with 34 points.
Siddeeq finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.56 seconds. He missed NCAA automatic qualifying standards in the event by one hundredth of a second. He placed fourth in the 200 meters in 21.61 seconds and anchored the Red Dragons' winning 4x100-meter relay (41.50 seconds) that also featured seniors
Kevin Ma (Cornwall),
J.J. Riese (Central Square/Paul V. Moore) and
Matt Bieringer (Center Moriches).
Sophomore
Seth DuBois (Altamont/Guilderland) provisionally qualified for nationals in the 5,000 meters with his sixth-place time of 14:42.47. Four other Red Dragons turned in ECAC qualifying times in the event. Sophomore
Justin Wager (Guilderland) finished seventh in 14:48.55, just 0.55 slower than the NCAA provisional standard. Junior
Shamus Nally (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was 12th (14:55.81), sophomore
Jerry Greenlaw (Warwick/Warwick Valley) placed 17th (15:10.00) and junior
Josh Henry (Truxton/Homer) finished 19th (15:14.28).
Freshman
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) qualified for ECACs in both the 400-meter hurdles (9th, 55.61) and the 400-meter run (23rd, 50.27). Junior
Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs) finished fourth in the pole vault with an ECAC-qualifying height of 14' 7.25”. Other Cortland ECAC qualifiers were sophomore
Drew Hilker (Ithaca) in the high jump (9th, 6' 2.75”), Riese in the 200 meters (11th, 21.97), sophomore
Kyle O'Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8th, 9:24.02) and Ma in the 100-meter dash (12th, 11.04).
