Niko Viglione broke the school 1,500-meter run record set last season by Andrew Cloke
NEW YORK CITY – Junior
Niko Viglione (Purdys/Somers) and Cortland's 4x400-meter relay team each set new school records at the New Balance Qualifying Challenge, held at Icahn Stadium in Manhattan.
Viglione finished third out of 48 runners in the 1,500-meter run in 3:51.34, breaking the previous school mark of 3:53.37 set by Andrew Cloke in 2007. Sophomore
Justin Wager (Guilderland) finished 36th in 4:11.48.
The 4x400-meter relay team of freshman
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk), freshman
Adam Groesbeck (Kirkville/East Syracuse-Minoa), senior
J.J. Riese (Central Square/Paul V. Moore) and senior
Matt Bieringer (Center Moriches) placed first in 3:14.56. They easily broke their own school mark of 3:18.07 set at the NYSCTC Championships a week earlier.
Senior
Amaan Siddeeq (Goshen) turned in third-fastest time in the 200-meter dash prelims at 21.19 seconds, but did not compete in the finals. He was also 17th in the 100-meter dash prelims in 11.41 seconds. Junior
Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs) cleared 15' 5" to finish fourth in the pole vault.
