ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Juniors
Sarah Kimball (Liverpool) and
Keri Laviska (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) took the top two spots in the pole vault to help Cortland finish seventh out of 14 schools at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Championships, hosted by the University of Rochester.
Brockport won the team title with 139.5 points, followed by Rochester (125), St. Lawrence (94), Geneseo (85), Ithaca (68.5), Fredonia (59) and Cortland (57.5).
Kimball cleared 10' 11.75" to win her third consecutive NYSCTC pole vault title, with Laviska second at 10' 6". Junior
Brittany Brunetto (Beacon) finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:44.52) and freshman Jessica Stanton (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) was third in the 800 meters (2:19.18).
Sophomore
Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) turned in a fourth-place effort in the high jump (5' 1.75") and was sixth in the javelin (105' 4"). Senior
Ashley Wirges (Hopewell Junction/Arlington) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash (26.23) and also led off the 4x400-meter relay unit that finished sixth in 4:04.82. Other members of that relay were Stanton, freshman
Kristie O'Reilly (Carmel) and sophomore
Mallory Baker (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa).
Freshman
Caitlin Sullivan (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:49.68) and freshman
Barbara Green (Levittown/Division Avenue) was sixth in the 800 meters (2:22.24). Freshman
Sarah Wignall (Weedsport) and sophomore
Katie Taber (Montour Falls/Odessa-Montour) were among a four-way tie for seventh in the pole vault, each clearing 9' 6.25".
In addition, sophomore
Lauren Phillips (Batavia) finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:00.64), freshman Steph McGrath (Camillus/West Genesee) was eighth in the 800 meters (2:23.26) and senior
Christa McGough (Remsen) posted the eighth-best triple jump (34' 9.5").
