Kayla Chambers (Craryville/Taconic Hills) scored three goals as Cortland, ranked eighth nationally in Division III, opened the season with a 7-0 shutout victory at Houghton College.

Cortland took a 3-0 lead in the first half on goals by Chambers, Spehler and Semit. Hand's first collegiate goal opened the second half scoring, followed by two Chambers goals sandwiched around Johnson's tally.
