CANTON, N.Y. – Sophomore
Andi Palen (Gardiner/Wallkill) finished third out of 189 runners at the Hoffmann Invitational hosted by St. Lawrence University. The Red Dragons, ranked 22nd nationally, finished second out of 15 teams at the meet despite resting some of their top runners.
Palen covered the 6,000-meter course with a time of 22:13. Kelly Young, an unattached runner with the Ottawa Lions won the race in 21:56. The Red Dragons had three other top-20 finishers. Freshman
Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/V-V-S) crossed the finish line in 16th (23:05), senior
Brittany Brunetto (Fishkill/Beacon) was right behind in 17th place (23:11) and junior
Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip) finished 20th (23:23).
Completing Cortland's top-seven spots were senior
Erin McGrath (Oakdale/Connetquot) in 30th place (24:00), freshman Chrissy DiLallo (Randolph) in 41st place (24:23) and sophomore Jess Stanton (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) in 45th place (24:30).
Geneseo won the team title with 60 points followed by Cortland with 76 points.
