Seven Individual Victories Help Cortland Beat Oswego, 133-109

Judd Simon won the 400-yard individual medley and was part of two winning relays
OSWEGO, N.Y. – Cortland won seven individual events and both relays on its way to a 133-109 dual-meet victory at SUNY Oswego. The Red Dragons improved to 4-2 with the victory and Oswego (4-3) had a three-meet win streak come to an end.

Junior Dan Evans (Hamburg) and senior Drew Hilker (Ithaca) each were victorious in two events. Evans captured the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.64) and 100-yard freestyle (47.34), while Hilker took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle (22.44) and 100-yard butterfly (53.82).

Junior Caleb VanSickle (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) won the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:47.85), freshman Judd Simon (Oneida) touched the wall first in the 400-yard individual medley (4:29.53) and senior Brett Poffenbarger (Owego/Owego Free Academy) had the best time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.41).

Simon, Poffenbarger, junior Jeff Moessinger (Buffalo/Iroquois) and Evans won the 200-yard medley relay (1:39.70), while VanSickle, freshman Dylan Scheemaker (Fairport), Simon and sophomore James McCabe (North Massapequa/Farmingdale) finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Cortland also took second place in the 200-yard medley relay as freshman Dan Drew (Victor), senior H. Austin Rhoads (Orchard Park), Hilker and sophomore Matt Young (Richmondville/Schoharie) finished in 1:42.36. Drew earned a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:22.65) and Moessinger was second, behind Hilker, in the 100-yard butterfly (54.78).
