OSWEGO, N.Y. - Ryan Ellis recorded two goals and an assist and Eric Selleck finished with three assists as nationally 11th-ranked Oswego defeated Cortland, 5-2, in a SUNYAC contest. The Lakers (12-5-1, 6-2-1 SUNYAC) moved into second place in the league standings. Cortland slipped to 5-11-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the conference.

Junior Gerard Heinz (Kings Park/NY Apple Core Jr. A) and freshman Ryan Markell (Columbus, OH/Ohio St. University) scored third-period power-play goals and freshman Mike Reilly (New York City/Bismarck Bobcats) finished with 27 saves for the Red Dragons. Oswego goalie Tim Potter stopped 23 shots on goal for the victory.

Oswego scored three goals in the first period, starting with an Andrew Mather power play goal just 46 seconds into the contest. Ellis scored at the 11:34 mark and defenseman Rich Zalewski added a shorthanded goal with 2:36 left and the Lakers led 3-0 after one period.

Ellis scored the lone goal of the second period at the 3:23 mark and defenseman Chris Laganiere finished the Lakers' scoring 1:04 into the third period.

Heinz put Cortland on the board 5:30 into the third, assisted by sophomore Justin Porpora (Hauppauge/NY Bobcats) and junior Patrick Palmisano (Ann Arbor, MI/Bay State Breakers), for his first goal of the season. Markell found the net at the 12:07 mark for his eighth goal of the season, set up by junior Frank Rizzo (St. James/NY Bobcats) and freshman Jake Saville (Bellingham, WA/Marquette Rangers).
