Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs) each provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in the pole vault and junior
Joe Keleher (Newfane) won the 60-meter hurdles to highlight Cortland's performances at the Upstate Challenge at Cornell University. The meet featured four Division I schools – Cornell, Buffalo, Syracuse and Colgate – along with Cortland and Ithaca.
Pericozzi and Zanetti each cleared 15' 4.25” in the pole vault. Pericozzi finished first and Zanetti was third due to their number of misses. Keleher won the 60-meter hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 8.35 seconds, both in the prelims and the finals. Keleher also placed sixth in the pole vault with an ECAC-qualifying 14' 3.25”.
Sophomore
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) was the runner-up in the 500 meters with an ECAC time of 1:06.10 and finshed sixth in the 200-meter dash (23.32). Senior
Niko Viglione (Purdys/Somers) also qualified for ECACs with his sixth-place time of 4:20.14 in the mile run.
Drew Hilker (Ithaca), during an off week from his normal role on the men's swimming and diving team, finished eighth in the long jump (20' 7.25”), while
Durrell Reed (Syracuse/Corcoran) placed 10th in the event (18' 5”).
Three Red Dragons finished in the top 10 in the weight throw – junior
Todd Plumer (Beacon) placed eighth (43' 7.75”), junior
Curtis Arena (Rome) was ninth (31' 9.25”) and freshman
Kyle Ellis (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) finished 10th (30' 8.5”). Sophomore
Phill Wiltshire (Apalachin/Vestal) was also a top-10 finisher with his ninth-place time of 1:09.75 in the 500 meters.
