Sarah Kimball finished second in the pole vault after clearing an ECAC-qualifying 10' 10"
ITHACA, N.Y. – Three Cortland athletes qualified for the ECAC Division III Championships as the Red Dragons competed at the Upstate Challenge, hosted by Cornell University. The meet featured four Division I schools – Cornell, Buffalo, Syracuse and Colgate – along with Cortland and Ithaca.
Seniors
Sarah Kimball (Liverpool) and
Keri Laviska (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) each cleared an ECAC qualifying height of 10' 10” in the pole vault and junior
Mallory Baker (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) posted an ECAC time of 1:20.94 in the 500 meters. Kimball finished second and Laviska was third in the pole vault due to their number of misses. Baker placed sixth in the 500 meters.
Senior
Alanna Hollborn (Islip Terrace/East Islip) and junior
Lisa Holt (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough) finished eighth (5:18.90) and 10th (5:25.84), respectively, in the mile run. Senior
Katie McEvoy (Batavia) and junior
Katie Taber (Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour) each recorded a height of 9' 10” in the pole vault, with McEvoy placing ninth and Taber 10th.
Two other Red Dragons earned top-10 finishes. Freshman
Danielle Georg (Centerport/Harborfields) was ninth in the long jump (15' 6.75”) and sophomore
Jen Peter (Marlboro) finished ninth in the shot put (32' 9.75”).
