NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Cortland women's swimming and diving team finished its dual-meet season with a 9-3 record after losing at New Paltz, 120.5-84.5. The Red Dragons won three events on the afternoon - two by sophomore
Liz Neddo (Syracuse/Fowler) and one by junior
Krista Bergquist (West Islip).
Neddo placed first in both the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:01.59) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.32). Bergquist won the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.32).
Cortland was narrowly defeated in both relays. Junior

Taylor Houseman (Wellsville), Bergquist and junior
Kristin Barnoski (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) lost by two-tenths of a second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.13. Junior Megan Donlevy (Lake Grove/Sachem North), junior
Katie Molzan (Plattsburgh/Peru), sophomore
Sarah Wignall (Weedsport) and senior
Lauren Friedlander (Woodbury/Syosset) finished the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.80, just 0.21 seconds off the winning time.
Friedlander finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.00), Barnoski was second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.69) and Houseman was the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.03). Buckley was a very close second in the 500-yard freestyle, her time of 5:26.94 just a quarter of a second behind the winner.
Cortland will send divers to the Ithaca Diving Invitational on Sunday (Feb. 1) and will compete at the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 11-14 in Buffalo.
