ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior Drew Hilker (Ithaca) and junior Dan Evans (Hamburg) each won two individual events as Cortland improved to 3-2 on the season with a 173-127 dual-meet victory at the University of Rochester.

Hilker won the 100-yard freestyle (48.17) and the 100-yard butterfly (53.29), while Evans took top honors in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.75) and the 50-yard freestyle (21.72). They were also both part of two winning relay teams, combining with senior Brett Poffenbarger (Owego/Owego Free Academy) and freshman Dan Drew (Victor) to win the 400-yard medley relay (3:38.53) and pairing with junior Caleb VanSickle (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) and junior Jeff Moessinger (Buffalo/Iroquois) to capture the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:17.23).

Poffenbarger finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.89) and Moessinger won the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.03). Cortland also won both diving events as sophomore Mihali Tzetzis (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) scored 218.50 points on the one-meter board and freshman Jimmy Luttinger (Fayetteville/Jamesville-DeWitt) posted a score of 234.55 points on the three-meter board.

Freshman Judd Simon (Oneida) placed second in two events – the 100-yard backstroke (55.65) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.50). Senior David Dow (Port St. Lucie, FL/Glastonbury (CT)) finished just behind Moessinger in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.99) and sophomore James McCabe (North Massapequa/Farmingdale) placed second behind Evans in the 50-yard freestyle (22.87).

Poffenbarger was the runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.13), as were Moessinger in the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.01) and Drew in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.94). Freshman Travis Burke (Massapequa) was the second-place finisher in both one-meter (211.45 points) and three-meter (231.80 points) diving.
