CORTLAND, N.Y. –  The Buffalo St. women's soccer team scored two second-half goals and earned a 2-1 come-from-behind win versus Cortland Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons dropped their second game of the weekend and fell to 8-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference, while the Bengals improved to 4-3-5 and 2-2-1.

Junior Maura Martin (Chili/Gates-Chili) netted Cortland's goal, and junior goalie Pam Monnier (East Northport/Northport) stopped four shots, all in the second half of action.

Junior Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster) registered a goal and an assist, and senior Leighana Krzyzanowski (Ontario/Wayne Central) tallied a goal for Buffalo St. Senior goalie Meghan Jarrell (Hamburg) stopped five shots.

Cortland took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Martin buried a 27-yard direct kick into the upper left of the goal for her second score of the season. The Red Dragons took the lead into intermission as they held the Bengals to just four shots and no quality scoring chances.

Buffalo St. pressured early in the second half and nearly scored the equalizer in the 48th minute, but Monnier made a diving save of senior Courtney Hilliker's (Williamsville/Williamsville South) 20-yard one-time shot from the left side. Four minutes later, Kiliszek did make it a 1-1 game as she carried the ball into the left side of the box, fought off a defender and slipped a shot inside the right post in the 52nd minute.

Kiliszek then set up Krzyzanowski's game winner in the 66th minute with a long pass to the right side of the box. Monnier charged off her line, but Krzyzanowski beat her to the ball and knocked a 20-yard shot into the open goal. The Bengals successfully denied the Red Dragons any good scoring chances down the stretch and held on for the victory.
