Ithaca goalie Chelsea Welsh made 16 saves, including 10 in the first half as the Bombers (4-10) played to a scoreless draw with the Red Dragons for the first 35 minutes. The guests eventually broke through 6:36 into the second half when sophomore
Danielle Hand (Whitney Point) knocked in a rebound after a scramble in front of the net for her team-high 11th goal of the season.
The lead grew to 2-0 just about five minutes later as freshman
Sara Woodward (Pine Plains) netted her ninth goal of the season. DeWaters fed a pass from the left side to Woodward, who dodged Welsh in front before knocking the ball in.
DeWaters scored off her own rebound with 18:16 remaining to give Cortland a 3-0 lead. Junior back
Angela Lorello (East Greenbush/Columbia) scored her first collegiate goal with 16 minutes left on a long shot from the top of the circle, and freshman
Danielle Groneman (East Islip) finished the scoring with 8:38 left on a rebound after an initial shot by
Emily O'Gorman (Williamsville/Williamsville North) was stopped by Welsh.
Cortland finished with a 27-9 lead in shots and a slight 9-8 edge in penalty corners. The Red Dragons will host Montclair State on Saturday at noon.
