ITHACA, N.Y. – Four Cortland runners placed in the top 10 in the 5,000-meter portion of the John Reif Memorial Run, hosted by Cornell University. The non-team scoring race was held in rainy, windy conditions at The Moakley Course.
Freshman
Brent Pavlick (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) finished third out of 44 runners with a time of 17:05. Freshman Joe Blazy (Newark Valley) was fifth (17:12), sophomore
Sean Twomey (Cornwall) finished sixth (17:14) and junior
Nick Jeror (Rome/Rome Free Academy) crossed the finish line ninth (17:29).
Also competing for the Red Dragons were freshman Patrick Fannon (West Islip) (14th, 17:47), sophomore
Greg Burns (Watertown/South Jefferson) (18th, 18:07) and junior
Jimmy Richburg (Guilderland) (21st, 18:46). Nick Wade, an unattached runner, won the race in 16:48, followed by Will McFall, another unattached runner, in 16:58.
Cortland did not enter any runners in the 5-mile men's race that was also held.
