CORTLAND, N.Y. – Three different players scored goals to lead the nationally sixth-ranked Cortland field hockey team to a 3-1 win versus visiting Montclair St. Saturday afternoon at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons improved to 16-0 with the victory, while the Red Hawks fell to 9-6.

Ashley Hughes (Selden/Comsewogue) turned aside eight shots to earn the win.
For the Red Hawks, junior Jessica Murphy (West Long Branch, NJ/Shore Regional) scored a second-half goal, and junior Deana Hagel (Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) collected an assist. Freshman goalie Megan Bosland (Boonton, NJ) made six saves.
Semit gave Cortland a 1-0 lead just 10 seconds into the game when she converted a pass from McCabe after the opening faceoff. Montclair St. had two excellent chances to tie the game in the first half, but Hughes denied Hagel's deflection in the 11th minute and made a diving save on Hagel in the 20th minute.
McGurl made it a 2-0 lead in the 50th minute when she tapped in DeWaters' pass at the left post. The Hawks pulled to within 2-1 in the 61st minute after scoring on a penalty corner. Hagel made a pass to the top of the arc where Murphy scored on a hard shot. Woodward , however, tallied an important insurance goal with just one minute, three seconds remaining in regulation as she scored a rebound goal from the right side on a diving shot.
